“We neglected our pool for many years but after a acid wash and tile clean from apache pools we a amazed with results”
Acid Washing Your Swimming Pool
Over time, your pool may fade in color, develop stains, or have discolored areas. Magnesium or copper stains can turn plaster from a bright white to blue, while a dark pebble pool may begin to look gray from calcium deposits.
You may try to deal with these problems by scrubbing alone, but sometimes, it’s just not enough. Acid washing is the most economical option for returning your pool to its like-new condition and is a routine part of taking care of your investment.
What Is An Acid Wash Anyways?
Acid washing is a cleaning process that removes calcium deposits, surface discoloration, chemical etching, & metal staining. The pool is drained completely, then the walls and floor are treated with a muriatic acid solution tailored to your surfaces needs. Difficult areas are scrubbed clean and the pool is rinsed and refilled.
An acid wash is one of the most cost-effective ways to rejuvenate your pool. We recommend our customers to have their pool drained and lightly acid washed every 2-3 years to prevent excessive calcification or discoloration of their pools surface.

Acid Wash FAQs
What Is An Acid Wash? An acid wash is a treatment of your swimming pools surface with a muriatic acid solution specially designed for your swimming pools surface material needs. We have perfected our process over many years of experience and 100’s of satisfied customers. An Acid Wash will remove calcium & metal staining, as well as any chemical etching from previously unbalanced water.
An acid wash is a 3-4 day process from start to finish.
Day 1) Drain: We will come and set up our sump pump and hoses the day before the work is to be performed. We will properly shut down all equipment and begin draining your swimming pool into the sewer clean outs located in the front of your house. Draining typically takes 6-12 hours depending on the size of the pool. Our pumps have automatic shut off switches, so you don’t have to do a thing.
Day 2) Acid Wash: This typically takes a few hours depending on the size of the pool and condition of the surface (we cannot guarantee 100% stain removal, some surfaces are just too far gone).
Day 3) Fill: We will begin filling the pool as soon as the acid wash is complete. This will take 24-72 hours depending on pool size and waterflow.
Day 4) Start Up: After the pool is full, we will come start all the equipment and add the proper start up chemicals.
The best time to do a Tile Clean or Acid Wash is in the spring, so your pool is fresh and ready for the summer swim season, but you have options depending on your pools surface material.
Plaster Surfaces cannot be drained if the outside air temperature is above 90 degrees. A plaster surface will develop hairline cracks resembling spiderwebs if exposed to high temperatures.
Pebble Surfaces are much stronger and can be drained all year long regardless of the outside air temp. In fact, many pebble pools have a rolled pebble bond beam that is exposed to high temperatures above the waters surface day-to-day, year-after-year with no issues.
